The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp has been restored by Martin Scorsese and Thelma Schoonmaker. No, not literally, but they lend their name to projects and raise funds so that Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s classic movies can live on in their full original glory for new and future generations to discover. This is one of the Archers’ absolute bests in a career packed with some seriously great titles. Anton Walbrook’s performance is exquisite. Well done to Park Circus for distributing this. You’d have to be a complete chump to miss this. So don’t be a chump.

Prometheus dir: Ridley Scott

Where to even begin with this one? I suppose we should acknowledge the landmark sci-fi horror flick Alien, and hope Scott’s sort-of-prequel delivers on the goods promised in all the trailers … and the teaser trailers and the teaser-teaser trailers. Phew.

The screenplay was co-written by Lost scribe Damon Lindelof. It’ll either be a gargantuan, unforgettable experience at the movies or rubbish … you honestly can’t tell these days. The Innkeepers (dir: Ti West)
Ti West’s new film, The Innkeepers, was without a doubt the best film screened last year at Film4 FrightFest. Cinemart also interviewed Mr. West about his movie and he’s a top dude. If you enjoyed The House of the Devil then this spooky tale of a haunted hotel will be a treat. It doesn’t go for a drive down Gory Road but replaces the red stuff with supreme chills and loveable characters. There’s also something rather reflective on the medium of film and its ability to frighten us when the best jolt of the entire film comes from a brilliantly handled practical joke. Ti West could well be the future of American horror. Strong words not written lightly. Also this one sheet below is just amazing. End of.
