We’ve endured Snakes on a Plane as a high concept movie, Man on a Ledge is a more recent one, and plenty of other mad Hollywood blockbusters down the years, but this Finnish production fancies a crack at a film with a premise of ‘Nazis hiding on the moon and launching an attack on Earth in flying saucers’. And Udo Kier is in it.
The trailer for Finnish flick, Iron Sky, which cost 7.5 million euros to produce, has launched and we’ve got it right here to show off. The film, directed by Timo Vuorensola, looks absolutely mad and might well be good B-movie fun indeed. Make that Z-movie fun. In a press release the director said:
“It was extremely difficult to make a movie like this. Honestly, it’s amazing we ever finished the film. The many hardships and all the trouble we went through to make an indie product like this was staggering, but we pulled it through. We’re proud of our accomplishments, and the theatrical trailer gives a powerful glimpse into the world of Iron Sky.”
The film, rather aptly, will be having its premiere in Berlin, at the festival, showing as part of the Panorama special selection. The film has been sold internationally and opens somewhere (maybe USA, it doesn’t actually say) on 4th April.
This had me at Udo Kier, to be honest. Also starring is Stephanie Paul, Christopher Kirby, Kym Jackson and Julia Dietze.
