Terrence Malick is known, quite inaccurately as a reclusive sort, when he’s really just not interested in playing the media game. He doesn’t give interviews and isn’t that keen on being photographed. He did a talk at Rome Film Festival a few years ago under the stipulation there would be no photography or filming of said event, nor would he answer any questions about his career.

Footage broke today on a celebrity gossip site known as TMZ which saw actor Benicio Del Toro on a street in L.A. and didn’t realise the man standing next to him was the less-spotted Terrence Malick. The footage comes from last weekend. If you watch the footage you’ll see Malick isn’t keen on being filmed, but as a ‘holy shit, that’s Terrence Malick’ souvenir, it’s pretty priceless. I’m sure Del Toro gets hounded on the streets a lot given he’s such a star but for Malick to turn up … well that is a turn up for the books. Definitely a scoop … of sorts.

The video clip here is a pretty moronic and the people in it (bar one) are morons too, but just watch it and go ‘that’s Terrence Malick … in real life!’ Of course he’s been spotted and photographed last year at an Austin music festival and in Oklahoma working on projects … but these pictures move.
