Film4 FrightFest have announced opening and closing night premieres for 2012′s premier horror festival with the full line-up being unveiled at the end of June (29th). This year sees an additional screen and more movies than ever before. Paul Hyett’s The Seasoning House will open proceedings on August 23rd. It is described as a ‘claustrophobic, psychological horror’. And it’s set in a Balkan brothel. Could be nasty!

The closing night picture is Tower Block starring Sheridan Smith, Jack O’Connell and Russell Tovey. The film is directed by James Nunn and Ronnie Thompson.

Festival Co-director and horror critic Alan Jones said:

“Once more Film4 FrightFest is delighted to be showcasing the key British talent of the future with our opening choice of THE SEASONING HOUSE, and our closing film, TOWER BLOCK. Both films are works of quality, sensitivity and bloody-minded bravado and the directors deserve to follow in the footsteps of such other talents we have promoted early in their careers, Christopher Nolan, Neil Marshall, Chris Smith and James Watkins.”

And that’s not all. It has been confirmed the much-awaited [REC]3: Genesis is also playing at this year’s festival! Director Paco Plaza and leading lady Leticia Dolera will be in attendance.

The full line-up is unveiled on 29th June. We will, of course, be reporting on that. Until then …
