Keira Knightley is bound to have a dead good 2012. She rocked it in A Dangerous Method as loony tune turned shrink, Sabina Spielrein, and has followed that pint of Cronenberg with a rom-com set at the end of days (Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World, which Cinemart has seen and liked) and then she’ll appear in a new adaptation of Tolstoi’s classic tragedy Anna Karenina. Her old pal Joe Wright is directing and its due out 7th September in the UK.

A trailer has wormed its way online as they tend to do in these here modern times and you can watch it below. Wright needs to be careful that his aesthetic flourishes don’t turn into clever but empty gestures. But it looks absolutely gorgeous judging from this here trailer. Plus Keira Knightley is gorgeous. I’m expecting ‘Gorgeous!’ to appear on the poster closer to the release date. Speaking of which …

… There’s also a poster if you want to take a gander at that. Starring Miss Knightley is Jude Law (boo) and Kelly Macdonald, Matthew Macfadyen, Domhnall Gleeson, Emily Watson, Alicia Vikander, Olivia Williams and Ruth Wilson.

The third collaboration of Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley with director Joe Wright, following the award-winning boxoffice successes “Pride & Prejudice” and “Atonement,” is the epic love story “Anna Karenina,” adapted from Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel by Academy Award winner Tom Stoppard (“Shakespeare in Love”). The story unfolds in its original late-19th-century Russia high-society setting and powerfully explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children. As Anna (Ms. Knightley) questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.
