Susanne Bier won an Oscar for her acclaimed film, In A Better World, and up next is something a bit gentler and romantic with Love is All You Need, starring Pierce Brosnan and set in Denmark and sunny Italy. Last summer I interviewed Miss Bier who was just about to start making this new flick. Which proves I’m a horrendous name dropper and that time flies.

A trailer has landed for the Danish rom-com and you can watch it right here. It certainly looks and feels different than her last effort. The film has been shot in a mixture of Danish and English languages, and its nice to see Brosnan’s love interest probably about the same age that he is. There’s no creepy decades-wipe gap here.

The film stars the former 007 along with Paprika Steen, Kim Bodnia and Trine Dyrholm. No word yet on a release but it might well play a few festivals in the coming months.

LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED is a romantic comedy by Oscar winner Susanne Bier written by Susanne Bier and Anders Thomas Jensen, starring Pierce Brosnan and Trine Dyrholm. The film is a warm, funny and life-affirming story about how, just when you think it’s all over, it just might be about to begin. With warmth, affection and confidence, Susanne Bier has shaken a cocktail of love, absurdity, humour, raucous dialogue and delicately drawn characters that will leave no heart untouched. Two very different families meet in a beautiful, old Italian villa, in the middle of a lemon grove. The occasion is a romantic wedding, meticulously planned to the smallest detail. Of course, nothing goes according to plan and yet everything works out in the end. LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED is a liberatingly different comedy, that will inspire hope in anyone with their heart in the right place.
