Here’s a bit of exciting industry news for you horror and cult flick lovers. Monster Pictures (owned by Bounty Films) are set on expanding their UK distriution arm with the release of twenty genre titles over the next year both theatrically and for home release. Cinemart enjoys the often crazy and weird stuff this label has put out, including last year’s controversial The Human Centipede 2 (which was ace. Read our review with star Laurence R. Harvey here).

Monster Pictures also distributed The Yellow Sea (which was fantastic) for UK audiences last year alongside a handful of truly demented Japanese gonzo flicks. It also gave exposure to the indie grindhouse treat Dead Hooker in a Trunkn by the Soska sisters, whose next feature, American Mary, is premiering at FrightFest next month.

Upcoming titles include Excision, a fantasy horror starring 90210′s AnnaLynne McCord, Traci Lords and Malcolm McDowell and Midnight Son. Other releases include The Inside, an Irish fear flick that premieres at London’s FrightFest this August, which Cinemart will be attending – so expect a review of that one next month.

The company has given Left Films founder Helen Grace the gig as label manager and here’s what she had to say.

“Monster Pictures has forged such a strong identity with their distribution of edgy and innovative ‘new cult’ films that don’t shy away from controversy, I am thrilled to be part their expansion in the UK. We have some very exciting releases coming up for genre film fans, and the company is also making great headway with its VOD platform www.bountyfilms.com – it’s a great time to be immersed in independent genre film distribution.”
