So it turns out ‘those rumours’ that Clint Eastwood retired from the acting world wasn’t strictly true. An article passed onto me by a fellow blogger noted what Eastwood actually said was ‘what roles are there for old dudes?’ (Not an exact quote, but you can read the article here by clicking on the link NY Times.
So anyway, if you cried your eyes out at the end of Gran Torino as one of the elder statesmen of American cinema took his bow from the screen, you’ll be surprised Clint has made a return to acting with a new baseball-themed melodrama, Trouble with the Curve, co-starring the brilliant Amy Adams and promising thesp, Justin Timberlake (I was the only one, it seems, who liked In Time … a lot.)
Eastwood is a legend therefore you will watch it. Also, if you don’t know ANYTHING about baseball, read my article here. I attended a game at Safeco Field in 2010 to see Seattle Mariners vs. Kansas City Royals. I still didn’t understand the game afterwards, but hopefully you’ll learn something!
Gus Lobel (Clint Eastwood) is an ailing baseball scout in his twilight years who takes his daughter, Mickey (Amy Adams) along for one last recruiting trip. Forced to spend time together for the first time in years, each make new discoveries – revealing long-held truths about their past and present that could change the prospects for their future.
